The dosage of legal LSD analogs such as 1BP-LSD or 1Fe-LSD often raises questions for many interested individuals. After all, it is an LSD derivative that chemically differs from classic LSD-25. However, these very differences play an important role in quantitative classification. Those who delve deeper into the topic quickly come across terms such as molar mass and potency compared to the original molecule. But what does this mean specifically for computational considerations?

In this article, we will take a closer look at the chemical background and explain in an understandable way why 1Fe-LSD dosage cannot be directly compared to LSD-25 and how the dosage of the novel LSD derivative 1Fe-LSD can be adjusted.

The desired effect determines the dose

To determine an appropriate dose, every psychonautically interested individual must first ask themselves what intention lies behind the use of a substance like 1Fe-LSD.

Depending on the intention, microdoses or full doses are better suited to achieve the desired effect.

What is LSD Microdosing?

Microdosing refers to the regular intake of very small amounts of a psychoactive substance: usually in the range of about one-tenth to one-twentieth of a typical effective dose. [1]

The goal is not to consciously experience a "trip," but rather a subtle change in mood, focus, or creativity in everyday life.

The effects are often described in experience reports as subliminal: clearer thinking, increased productivity, or a more stable emotional balance.

Scientifically, the data situation is still limited, which is why many findings are currently based on user reports. However, initial studies show that positive expectations lead to microdosing being experienced as useful. [2, 3]

What is LSD Macrodosing?

Macrodosing, often also called full dosing or high dosing, refers to the intake of a fully effective dose that can cause significant changes in perception, thinking, and state of consciousness.

In contrast to microdosing, the focus here is not on subtle everyday integration, but on an intense, clearly time-limited experience.

According to experience reports, depending on the substance, dosage, set, and setting, this can range from heightened sensory perception to profound emotional processes and altered self and reality perceptions.

Conscious preparation and subsequent integration of the experience are considered particularly important in psychonautic practice. [4]

Specifics of dosing LSD derivatives such as 1Fe-LSD

Due to the additional functional groups in the side chains, the molar mass of the LSD derivatives 1Fe-LSD and 1BP-LSD differs significantly from that of classic LSD-25 (lysergic acid diethylamide). This chemical change has a direct impact on the dosage and should be taken into account when considering corresponding quantitative relationships.

While LSD-25 has a molar mass of 323.4 g/mol, that of 1Fe-LSD is 535.5 g/mol.

This is due, among other things, to the attached ferrocene in the side chain, which makes the molecule heavier.

If an effect equivalent to a 100 µg dose of the hallucinogen LSD-25 is desired, approximately 165 µg of 1Fe-LSD would theoretically be required. To achieve a comparable effect strength, a researcher would therefore have to use approximately 1.65 times the amount of 1Fe-LSD.

From microdosing to heroic dose: What do the terms mean?

Above a microdose, the range of clearly noticeable psychedelic effects begins. How intense and in what form these are experienced depends on the respective dose. Based on scientific studies and extensive experience with LSD, different dosage ranges can be defined. These can be used as orienting comparative values for 1Fe-LSD, taking into account the conversion factor of approximately 1.65 in terms of active ingredient quantity. [5]

Experience level
LSD-25 dose
Expected effects
Microdose
5–20 µg
Sub-perceptual, no psychedelic effects. User-reported effects on mood and cognition, scientifically debated.
Threshold
20–30 µg
Mild euphoria, subtle changes in perception, heightened sensory acuity. Hardly any visual effects.
Light dose
30–75 µg
Significant changes in mood and perception. Mild visual effects (e.g., more intense colors, subtle patterns with closed eyes). Thought flow is altered but still controllable.
Standard dose
75–150 µg
Full psychedelic experience. Strong visual effects, profound changes in thinking, strong emotional reactions, possible ego dissolution. This is the typical range for therapeutic and recreational purposes.
Strong dose
150–250 µg
Very intense and often overwhelming experience. Strong visual and auditory hallucinations, complete ego dissolution, mystical or spiritual experiences are likely. The risk of anxiety and confusion increases significantly.
Heroic dose
250+ µg
Extremely profound and unpredictable experience. Complete separation from familiar reality. Recommended only for very experienced individuals in an extremely safe and supervised environment. The risk of a psychologically stressful experience is very high.

Important: A higher dose does not automatically guarantee a "better" or more valuable experience. Research suggests [5] that while higher amounts of classic LSD-25 (e.g., 200 µg compared to 100 µg) may make more intense experiences and phenomena like ego dissolution more likely, they also increase the risk of anxiety or unpleasant emotional states.

Therefore, the decision for a specific dosage range should be carefully considered, always taking into account factors such as personal prior experience, current life circumstances, the context of consumption, and set and setting.

Avoiding dosage errors

One danger inherent in any psychonautic exploration is dosage errors. An unintentionally high dose often leads to undesirable effects or even "bad trips."

The risk of incorrect dosing is particularly high for substances that are in crystalline form or as powder, especially if no suitable precision scale is available.

LSD derivatives such as 1Fe-LSD, 1P-LSD, 1BP-LSD or 1cP-LSD are usually offered as pellets, drops, or blotters with clearly indicated dosages, which significantly minimizes the risk of incorrect dose estimations.

By using these reliably pre-dosed LSD products and handling the substances carefully, unintentional overdoses and a resulting involuntarily intense intoxication can be reliably prevented.

Conclusion

The correct 1Fe-LSD dosage can be better understood by considering the chemical peculiarities of the molecule.

Due to the altered molar mass, the dosage of 1Fe-LSD differs significantly from the usual LSD-25 dosage, which is why identical microgram specifications do not automatically mean similar potency.

Anyone dealing with microdosing or higher dosage ranges should always keep these computational differences in mind.

At the same time, it becomes clear that in addition to the pure amount of substance, factors such as experience, expectations, and set and setting play a crucial role.

An informed, reflective engagement with the substance is therefore the most important basis for safe experiences, regardless of the dosage range one wishes to explore.
